St. Agnes Academy Student Life Center

Houston, Texas

This phased project consisted of 50,000 SF of new construction, including a new, multi-use performing arts center that allows for theater, choir, and orchestral performances, and also includes classrooms for the expanding communications program, office spaces for the athletics department, and a dedicated dance hall. The original 1962 auditorium was transformed into a lively and light filled space for informal student gathering and study.

In addition, the existing auditorium stage was converted into a dedicated performing arts classroom and black box performance space. The new construction triggered the need to upgrade the existing chilled water cooling plant, replacing the existing grade mounted air cooled chillers with roof mounted chillers to preserve space for future expansion, and retrofitting the primary chilled water distribution to function as a primary/secondary pumping system. Additionally, electrical service modifications and fire water infrastructure upgrades were required.
