St. Clare of Assisi Family Life Building

Houston, Texas

The St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church Family Life & Education Building is a new multi-purpose addition created to meet the churches expanding needs. The project was lead by the immediate need for more classrooms, but the need to have the addition be multi-purpose in nature was an overwhelming desire of the church. The 28,000 SF facility features multi-purpose classrooms, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a unique resource center that doubles the existing library, a computer lab, youth activity room, catering kitchen, restrooms, storage areas, and an exterior narthex for the existing 5,050 SF courtyard. The design also features movable partitions, room reducing techniques to change square footage sizes, flexibility in lighting, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, and the addition of canopies over exterior gathering spaces to utilize more of the area for St. Clare’s ministry.

The opening of the new parish multipurpose facility coincided with the 20th anniversary of the school. Expansion of the chilled water plant was also required.
